Studio Rakete is looking for a Lighting Lead (m/f/d) for animated Feature Films with international partners.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced full time Lighting Lead to join our innovative and collaborative team for upcoming animation projects. As Lighting Lead, you will be responsible for leading your team members to create visually stunning and compelling lighting.

Your responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Director and Art Director to ensure the lighting matches the visual style and mood of the movie.
• Lead the lighting team to create consistant high-quality lighting for the entire project.
• Work closely with the Compositing Supervisor to ensure seamless integration of lighting with other elements.
• Continuously improve the lighting pipeline and processes to increase efficiency and quality
• Mentor and provide feedback to the lighting artists to develop their skills and abilities.
• Partnering with our Line Producers and Production Managers and offer solutions that manage scope and maintain the creative vision within the given boundaries (schedule and budget).

Requirements:

• At least +5 years of experience in a senior/lead lighting role in the animation or visual effects industry.
• Experience leading a team of lighting artists on an animation project.
• Strong understanding of lighting principles, color theory, and composition.
• Expert knowledge of Maya, Arnold and Nuke.
• Good Python and some Maya API knowledge preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with given deadlines.

This is a freelance position on site in our studio located in Hamburg, with compensation commensurate with experience. You need to have an EU work permit. We are team oriented and offer a family friendly work environment with great colleagues and flat hierachies.
